Solid AR Fundamentals Class

Bill's a very good instructor. He doesn't swagger or show off the way some firearms instructors do. He's to the point, offering clear instructions and the reasons for them. He is very focused on safety. In this class, he took us through a large variety of drills, moving from simpler to more complex. He also did a nice job of adding cognitive load as the day went on, to drive home the point of how important it is to practice these manipulations so that they are wired in the neural pathways for when things go south. As fun as it is, sitting at the range and slow firing at a 50 or 100 yd target doesn't do it. I found particularly helpful his emphasis on the differences between defensive and target shooting, and his demand that I pick up the speed. Also nothing like dumping a mag to "let freedom ring"!

If you really want to know how to handle your AR-15...

I never thought of an AR-15 as a defensive weapon before. However, after taking this course, I now see how effective this rifle can be (with the proper training) for defending against a multi-person threat. I have owned my AR-15 for over 10 years now and have taken it to the range several times throughout. However, up until taking this course, I had no idea how truly versatile this rifle can be. The instructor, Bill Dalpe, did a great job starting with the basics of proper AR handling and use. We then progressed to several firing drills that were a solid mix of both speed and accuracy. By the end of the course, we were exposed to several different scenarios, which really did a great job in preparing us on the proper way to respond to many different defensive situations.

If you own an AR-15, I highly recommend this course!!
