Our Carry & Defend 1.0 course is based on the methodologies and philosophies of Intuitive Defensive Shooting (IDS), the Carry & Defend 1.0 course is perfect for anyone who wants to learn to use their pistol in a defensive context.
Students who complete this course will begin to feel both physically and mentally confident in their shooting skills as we prepare for the most probably scenarios while building a solid foundation of defensive handgun techniques, such as:
- intuitive unsighted fire
- intuitive sighted fire
- using natural kinesthetic alignment
- lateral movement
- emergency reloads
- Dynamic drills
- multiple target engagement
- Must have your own pistol and be able to legally own it
- Must be familiar with loading and unloading your pistol
Class Logistics:
- This course is intended for beginners thru experts; however, you must be able to legally own and transport a firearm
- Must be comfortable loading and unloading your own firearm
- Must provide your own firearm and ammo
Range Day Logistics:
Important: You may choose to arrive carrying your own firearm; however, there will be NO handling of firearms or ammo until instructed by your instructor.
What you need to bring:
- Gun with holster (Ankle, harness, drop leg, pancake, urban, holsters are prohibited). We prefer OWB holsters but will allow IWB as long as you can tuck your shirt in behind it. Holster must be constructed from kydex or similar hard material. NO soft cheap holsters please.
- 450 rounds MIN of ammo (more is always better)
- Minimum of 3 magazines. If mag capacity under 10 rounds then 5 magazines
- Mag pouch (if you use one when you carry and is not necessary)
- Notebook and pen
- Water or other (non-alcohol) hydration liquids
- Lunch and snacks if needed
- Comfortable clothes and footwear that is weather appropriate
- Sun screen (if applicable)
- Proper eyes and ears
