Our Massachusetts Licensing (LTC/FID) course is designed to cover the basics of pistol, rifle, and shotgun safety for residents interested in obtaining a License to Carry (LTC) or Firearms Identification (FID) card in the state of Massachusetts. This course includes in-class discussion as well as hands-on experience and is followed by a live-fire session where students will have the opportunity to handle a variety of pistols, rifles, and shotguns at the range. The in-class portion of this course covers the fundamental knowledge and approach to handling, operating, possessing, storing, and transporting a firearm safely and in accordance with state and federal firearms laws.
Attending the live-fire session is not a requirement to completing this course. However, we strongly recommend anyone planning to apply for a Massachusetts LTC/FID license participate. Our live-fire session includes range time where students will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in class under the guidance and supervision of our certified firearms instructor.
Note: Live-fire sessions are held on weekends only. Students attending a weeknight course and wish to participate in the live-fire session will be sent a list of available weekend dates after purchase. Live-fire sessions for weekend courses will be held on the same day directly after the in-class session of the schedule course date.
Upon completing the Massachusetts Licensing (LTC/FID) course, students will receive the Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety (BFS) certification, which is required to apply for an LTC/FID license in Massachusetts, and the Home Firearm Safety certification from the National Rifle Association (NRA). Our students will also leave with a copy of the Patriot Firearms School law packet that covers the Massachusetts licensing structure, MA state and federal laws, proper storage and transportation of firearms, a Massachusetts application, and a list of resources to useful web sites and groups.

We ask that our students arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class start time. Our in-class sessions are held at 51 Winthrop St. Unit 1 in Rehoboth. Students interested in participating in the live-fire session will be sent an email with additional information prior to the range date.
